AboutQuarrybrook-Winter

Established in January 2012, Quarrybrook Experiential Education Center is a private 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing hands-on, inquiry-based learning experiences in nature. Located in Windham, New Hampshire, Quarrybrook works with teachers and other educators to create standards-based field classes that are driven by exploration, investigation, and a sense of fun and adventure. With a 245-acre wilderness classroom, we strive to connect students and visitors with the natural world and help to inspire their innate curiosity through personal discovery and first-hand experiences.

The Education Center building is comprised of several activity rooms and gathering spaces that offer field class participants and other visitors a place to continue learning, when the weather becomes challenging! The building design includes many “green” elements such as the solar photovoltaic roof and the geothermal energy system. Viewing areas around these systems allow visiting classrooms and other groups to explore and study these green technologies up close, incorporating the building into the overall education program for the site. As a private facility, we are open to scheduled groups, for school programs, workshops, and community events.

The seventh-graders looked very content and calm on returning to school. It was almost as if they were under the spell of what they had seen and done....

This was honestly something very enriching. With many ecosystems being destroyed by man and other factors, it was wonderful to see how both young and old members of our society truly care and want to save it. I was at a relief to know that your team is dedicated in educating others about the many wonders of the outdoors.
